Letter: Our 66th mile
Today was our 66th mile together rowing a double on American Lake.
Daughter Christina Klas and I began this past June 24, our goal just to row the three-and-a-half-mile course which we initially halved by stopping at the far turn and catching our breath.
Westside Story – Dang Root Beer
While in Delaware I found a unique brand of root beer called Dang Root Beer. Dang Root Beer caught my eye because a nice man who works in Lakewood, named Linh Dang, provides lawn and garden service for the common areas that belong to our neighborhood association. Additionally, he is responsible for several private yards in our neighborhood.
Letter: Imagine that
National Night Out’s (NNO) baseball game between the Lakewood Baseball Club’s Pinto Division Champion Tillicum Crushers and their parents was so fun, so outstanding, and so incredibly important at so many levels.
If only somehow we could capture – and that is the intent here in writing this – the far-reaching difference a simple three-inning exhibition game can – and will – have for all of life for all concerned.
Westside Story – City of Lakewood makes the impossible possible
On Friday, July 24, 2015, a good news article appeared in The Suburban Times titled Legislative Session Successful For Lakewood. Under the sub-heading JBLM Corridor, I found miracle news which read as follows:
“A local connector road between Gravelly Lake Drive and Thorne Lane, essentially opening up the Tillicum neighborhood to the rest of Lakewood for the first time.”
Of course you can draw
Of course you can draw! Who says so? Artist Mark Ryan, that’s who!
Letter: An interview with Ben Gonter, candidate for Lakewood City Council
Ben Gonter is not the pilot of a ship but has piloted a plane and now wants with the same firm hand required of both challenging and adventuresome pursuits to help steer the direction for Lakewood as candidate for City Council.
Westside Story – Tillicum Scores 10 on Neg-O-Meter
I recently invented a prototype high tech device called the Neg-O-Meter. The Neg-O-Meter operates much like a Geiger Counter only instead of measuring radiation, it measures human negativity.
I used a Homeland Security approved bungee cord to attach my Neg-O-Meter to a radio controlled drone which I flew over the entire city to determine where the strongest source of negative attitudes radiate from. I did not fly my drone over the kids playing soccer at Ft. Steilacoom Park, because it is dangerous and besides, kids playing soccer are not going to be negative.
Letter: The new bubble wrap, an ominous sign for voters
Olivia B. Waxman, reporting for “Time, Inc.” writes this past July 2 that “Sealed Air, the original seller of bubble wrap, is rolling out a new version of bubble wrap with bubbles that do not pop.”
