Dorothy Wilhelm will demonstrate her slightly off the wall cooking technique at the Washington State Fair on Opening Day this year. That’s Friday, Sept 11 from 3:30 to 5:30 in the Home Arts Department. She will demonstrate how to prepare her famous Turtle Brownies, always in demand for special occasions.

Lakewood First Lions Club members recently gathered to sort eyeglasses collected from the Lakewood community.

Lions Club tests kids’ hearing on first day of classes
On the first day of school at Four Heroes Elementary School in Lakewood, more than fifteen members of the Lakewood First Lions Club and the Dupont Lions Club gathered to perform sight and hearing testing on some 585 students.

Today was our 66th mile together rowing a double on American Lake.
Daughter Christina Klas and I began this past June 24, our goal just to row the three-and-a-half-mile course which we initially halved by stopping at the far turn and catching our breath.
Westside Story – Dang Root Beer
While in Delaware I found a unique brand of root beer called Dang Root Beer. Dang Root Beer caught my eye because a nice man who works in Lakewood, named Linh Dang, provides lawn and garden service for the common areas that belong to our neighborhood association. Additionally, he is responsible for several private yards in our neighborhood.
