What marijuana, tobacco products, automobiles, trains and their ilk have in common: advertising, and a too-gullible public. ‘Doggonit!’ exclaimed the owner of the puppy, pursuant to the pet doctor’s presumption that her beloved pet had probably swallowed pot in a public park.

Westside Story – IDIOTS
While I may be a nobody, under the protective umbrella of the First Amendment to our US Constitution, I have the inalienable right to give new names to stuff. This right is affectionately known as Freedom of Speech. A couple of paragraphs from now, I am going to exercise my First Amendment right.
Letter: Follow this train of thought
Lakewood Mayor Don Anderson and the City Council want Amtrak high-speed trains permanently suspended from running through the heart of the city. To that end they have written a letter.
Letter: Amtrak disaster
Just before being interviewed by KIRO radio this morning, I was told by the caller “You’re about to go live but if you haven’t heard, three fatalities are now being reported.” No, I hadn’t heard.

Letter: A $9-million walking (logrolling) path ‘round Gravelly Lake?

Letter: To save 10 minutes, one accident per train crossing in Lakewood every 10 years
According to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Point Defiance Bypass Environmental Assessment (Appendix F: Traffic and Transportation Discipline Report, p.83), “None of the individual crossings are predicted to experience accidents more frequently than one in every 10 years.”
This to save an estimated 10 minutes of Amtrak travel time from Seattle to Portland, and this in spite of proposed safety upgrades.
