It is fair to say that any one of us, including me, can be guilty of illiterate expression. Conversely, most of us are not charged with the professional responsibility of teaching language arts to our children. It seems to me we should not tolerate Clover Park Schools teaching our youth, by example, how to be illiterate.

One of our faithful The Suburban Times readers, David Wilson, submitted a comment to my August 4, 2015, article, Westside Story – On The Road 75 Years Later – Part 3 as follows.

At the end of Part 3, I was hoofing it across the sandy beach when my escape was blocked by a 6’ cyclone fence with three strands of barbed wire on top. It might have been electric barbed wire for all I know. Remember, this is Chicago.
Westside Story – Dang Root Beer
While in Delaware I found a unique brand of root beer called Dang Root Beer. Dang Root Beer caught my eye because a nice man who works in Lakewood, named Linh Dang, provides lawn and garden service for the common areas that belong to our neighborhood association. Additionally, he is responsible for several private yards in our neighborhood.

During the summer of 1965 I survived learning some life lessons that serve me well to this day. There are two ways to learn things; the easy way and the hard way. I learned these lessons the hard way while serving as a college scholarship intern for James S. Kemper Insurance Company in Chicago, Illinois.

My roommate, Jim Singer, and I combined walking and bus riding for our daily commute to and from work. On one fateful day as we made our way home, we were swept up in a racial protest down in the Loop. We did not fully understand what was happening, nor did we wish to protest. We tried to escape the fracas by entering a nearby jewelry store. The owner quickly slammed and locked the door and would not let us in. He must have thought we were protestors bent on pillaging his store.
Westside Story – ‘On The Road’ 75 years Later – Part 1
When I was young, probably in the late 1950s, my eyes were glued to author and poet Jack Kerouac’s novel, On The Road. Kerouac’s tale told of adventures as he and his pals, described as the Beat Generation, traveled across America and Mexico.
Westside Story – City of Lakewood makes the impossible possible
On Friday, July 24, 2015, a good news article appeared in The Suburban Times titled Legislative Session Successful For Lakewood. Under the sub-heading JBLM Corridor, I found miracle news which read as follows:
“A local connector road between Gravelly Lake Drive and Thorne Lane, essentially opening up the Tillicum neighborhood to the rest of Lakewood for the first time.”
Westside Story – Tillicum Scores 10 on Neg-O-Meter
I recently invented a prototype high tech device called the Neg-O-Meter. The Neg-O-Meter operates much like a Geiger Counter only instead of measuring radiation, it measures human negativity.
I used a Homeland Security approved bungee cord to attach my Neg-O-Meter to a radio controlled drone which I flew over the entire city to determine where the strongest source of negative attitudes radiate from. I did not fly my drone over the kids playing soccer at Ft. Steilacoom Park, because it is dangerous and besides, kids playing soccer are not going to be negative.
