Pierce County Library System press release.
PIERCE COUNTY, Washington – Pierce County residents are invited to meet and speak directly with Pierce County Library System Executive Director Gretchen Caserotti in a community forum.
Four open house events are scheduled for September, with one more event to take place later in the fall at the Gig Harbor Pierce County Library.
Meet Pierce County Library System Executive Director Gretchen Caserotti:
- Thursday, Sept. 15, 10:30 a.m.-noon, University Place Pierce County Library
- Saturday, Sept. 24, 1-2:30 p.m., Sumner Pierce County Library
- Monday, Sept. 26, 1-2:30 p.m., Parkland/Spanaway Pierce County Library
- Wednesday, Sept. 28, 3-4:30 p.m., South Hill Pierce County Library
At these casual, conversational open house events, people can meet their new library executive director, share their ideas with Caserotti, and get answers to their questions.
Caserotti would like to hear directly from the community, and learn how the pandemic has affected how people use library services, as well as discover how the Library can help meet their needs in the future.
The Pierce County Library’s Board of Trustees appointed Caserotti in March 2022 as the Library System’s fifth executive director. Previously, Caserotti was the library director with the Meridian Library District in Meridian, Idaho, where she served since 2013. Her career started as a children’s librarian at the New York Public Library. She joined the helm at the Pierce County Library in May 2022.
Ruth Stevick says
Lakewood had one of the busiest libraries in the system. The new director should make an effort to speak to Lakewood residents, in Lakewood, about their views about library services With our old library closed and no word about even a temporary place, we are in library limbo and deserve a voice
Bob Warfield says
THANK YOU Ruth Stevick. The Citizens Advisory Committee, appointed by City of Lakewood in collaboration with PCLS, suggests a voice. Following, its recommendations thence go to the five Trustees of PCLS for decision and further action, We may have to await their product to discern whether Lakewood’s voice is one of clarity, strength and vision or but an echo of lingering concern.
