This is a terrible MISLEADING headline. The subject of the police chase is not the victim here, but a citizen trying to assist the police. In an age where police are routinely attacked for doing their job, and people rely on headlines rather than the facts, this is dangerously sloppy. Whoever wrote this – please do better. It’s important.
Frank, I can do nothing about “people [who] rely on headlines rather than facts.” Would the following be more palatable, “Police pursuit, suspect in custody, citizen dies”?
