A Statement From Mayor Victoria Woodards on Violence Over the Weekend

TACOMA, Wash. — “I am saddened to hear of the two violent incidents that occurred over the weekend. This is unacceptable, and it is a good reminder that we must continue our efforts to to prioritize violent crime reduction.  

While investigations are ongoing, they’ve already booked one suspect into the Pierce County Jail on two counts of Assault 1 and a further charge of Murder 1. I am confident that the Tacoma Police Department with its high crime-solving rate will find the individuals responsible and help ensure that they are held accountable.

I remain committed to actions that will make Tacoma the safest city in the world, and the Council and I will continue to work with Police Chief Avery Moore to make that happen.

  2. Woodard’s and her cohorts decimated, demoralized, demonized Tacoma Police here we are 2022 , criminals rule! There tools, subjective law enforcement and the race card!

  3. Cause a disaster and then react to it – the way of the democrat.
    I can already see the award ceremony.
    This is what you get when you allow the city you have been entrusted to lead, to fall into something more akin to a zoo.
    Why didn’t the “red flag” law intercept these thugs?
    What if it had?
    What are the rules of engagement for the officers mayor?
    Can they fight for their own lives while making arrests, or will you hang them out to dry if the perp is killed or injured?
    You want a safe city?
    Then change the behavior of those who are stinking it up.
    One can only imagine how horrific it would get if law abiding citizens didn’t have the right to defend themselves and their homes with modern firearms.
    The knowledge of those guns is a deterrent far beyond the actual use of them.
    If you had your way mayor, you would remove that right immediately rather than whittle away at it as you have.
    Then the thugs and only the thugs would rule the city of taComa.
