By that same measure, I should also express when something works out well.
The Public Safety update held Thursday, March 24, fulfilled a number of functions. Yes, it addressed safety and introduced us to the movers and shakers that support our community, but it also provided the networking so crucial to our vibrant community and heralded the resumption of normality.
The Fort Steilacoom Park Pavilion is a glittering jewel in our City’s crown and worked out perfectly for this event both in size and setting.
Kudos to the concept and staff that had the vision to advance this opportunity.

And I second this comment having also recognized and seen implemented a steady vision of public and other infrastructure improvements. We may not always appreciate some of the specifics, but the whole has been welcomed overall as is the initiative being shown by the City and contributing citizens.
Ft Steilacoom Park is the absolute gem of Lakewood. We returned from Europe in 1995, and there were two places that made us choose to buy a home here: Ft Steilacoom Park and the Lakewood YMCA…as well as the close commute to Ft Lewis.
The improvements to the park: off-leash park (and continued improvements there), the pavilion, the ball parks, the pavement around the lake, and the improved parking have only made it more accessible and functional. I run there almost everyday, and walk our dogs at the park.
I’m still agnostic about the traffic circles but do appreciate the road improvements. The contrast between our city government and Tacoma is night and day. I did not appreciate the vision our city founders had back in the early 90s to incorporate, but now 25+ years later I’m pleased we made the choice to buy here.
