While we are all a part of the same USA, we do not all behave the same. For instance on the West Coast we call soft drinks pop. On the East Coast they call soft drinks soda.
On the Pacific Ocean side of the USA we only walk or lie on the beach. On the Atlantic Ocean side of the USA, not only do they walk and lie on the beach, they sit and relax on the beach.
We also went to the beach, Joe, though sometimes we went to the shore. Never too sure what to call it here so usually settle for the Coast which never sounds completely right. Suggestions?
I agree with Linda S. People back east say they’re “going to the shore” but here most people say we’re “going to the ocean” though some say they’re “going to the beach”.
I am the son of a mom who always called it “beach”. So that makes me a son of a beach.
