The big Chambers Bay 2015 US Open Golf Championship is so exciting it has been in the forefront of our daily news knocking other worthy stories off the front page. It is my job, and I take my job seriously, to bring you the smaller, but even more important stories you might miss as you are distracted by all the golf stories.
Recently, in Paris, France, at the base of the Eiffel Tower, a consortium of artists, traffic engineers, Department of Transportation officials along with a small contingent of AARP officials met to unveil the world wide winner of the International Symbol Contest. The timing is phenomenal when compared with the release of my recent story Westside Story – Infomercial #3.
At first my ever popular cartoonist, SWS, was not going to submit his entry. He thought it was a cymbal contest. He used a bad language arts form to emphasize his point which was stated as, “I ain’t no drummer.
After I cleared up the cymbal vs. symbol sound-a-like word confusion, SWS was in. It is a good thing too.
And the winner is, our own SWS with his symbol entry depicted below. What a marvel.
Okay, okay, I admit it. Most of the above is stuff I made up. Think of this as creative jousting. I wrote a story, Westside Story – Infomercial #3. SWS read my story and created the symbol cartoon shown above. I saw the SWS symbol cartoon and created another story, Westside Story – International Symbol Contest. And this paragraph is the truth.
The next creative jousting move is up to SWS. I do not think he can come up with another move. Do you? I got him. I say checkmate.
SWS says
So you’re throwing down the gauntlet, huh? Okay then, I accept the challenge.
