This event to honor living Veterans and those servicemen and women who sacrificed their lives for our country will be held at the University Place Community/Senior Center beginning at 12:30 pm on Friday, May 27th. The Center is located at 2534 Grandview Drive West. The Center is staffed and funded by COMMUNITY CONNECTION PLACE, a registered non-profit agency working to create a community center for fitness, health, education, and recreation for personal enrichment and social engagement.

Keynote Speaker – Dorette M. Markham – who served in the Women’s Army Corps (1966 -1970). Dorette hold a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts and a Masters Degree from the University of Utah. Dorette has been a resident of University Place since 1970. She is a retired WA State Employee and is an elected Trustee of Tacoma Chapter 12 of the Retired Public Employees’ Council. Dorette is also a member of the University Place American Legion Post 138 as well as a Board Member of the University Place Veterans Plaza (which is in the process of being finished in UP’s Cirque Park.)
Everyone is invited to attend this event to honor the men and women who served our great country.
