Housing is a human right! Join us for an evening of live music from talented local artists. Your ticket supports deep grassroots organizing efforts and Home In Tacoma For All, a housing justice movement fighting to keep Tacoma affordable for working class families.
Rusty Cleavers, a rowdy 4-piece rock-n-roll bluegrass band from Tacoma wows with classic bluegrass musicianship and vocal harmonies and the attitude and energy of punk rock; Cellophane Eyes welcomes you into their personal haven of childlike wonder, chaos and alien worlds; and KPX brings love and passion to his hip-hop music and powerful lyrical message.
Tacoma is facing a convergence crisis: housing, climate and inequality. From March 2021- March 2022 Tacoma saw an average 39.7% year over year rent increase. Right now, 7,769 families in Tacoma can’t find an apartment they can afford to rent. As people are priced out of housing, they move into their cars or tents. The homeless population living on the streets around Tacoma has about doubled from 2021 to 2022.
$15/advance, $20 at door. All ages. For tickets: https://www.ticketweb.com/event/home-in-tacoma-for-all-alma-tickets/12601445
Who is Home In Tacoma? Volunteers from all walks of life are organizing a democratically controlled Home In Tacoma For All campaign to lobby elected officials to build dense, thriving, ecologically sustainable community, to remove barriers to building less expensive housing, expand tenants right to remain in their homes, build wealth for working families and dismantle practices that serve as proxy for discrimination by race and class.
