Get ready for an all-new season of amazing animal antics! The Wild Wonders Outdoor Theater at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium launches its 2025 spring/summer show on May 3, featuring a fresh, fun-filled theme: “Zoo’s Got Mail.”
This year’s star? The zoo’s superstar dog Rocket the Mail Terrier, leading a cast of talented animal ambassadors through a whimsical journey of mail delivery—and wild surprises. The show is packed with action as animals jump, fly, dash, and show off their natural behaviors, all while answering guests most common questions from the zoo’s “daily mailbag.”
“We use positive reinforcement to encourage natural behaviors that not only amaze guests but help keep our animals healthy and engaged,” said Lacey Zeno, curator of the Wild Wonders Outdoor Theater. “These sessions build trust, allow for stress-free wellness exams, and provide our animals with plenty of mental and physical stimulation.”
The cast rotates daily and features more than a dozen animals, including a lynx, beaver, aardvark, skunk, hornbill, and king vulture. Audiences are invited to stay curious and learn about the importance of learning and connecting with our natural world through engaging narration and an awe-inspiring show.
“Participation from our animal stars is always voluntary,” added Zeno. “Training is collaborative, and it’s all about giving animals choices and a chance to shine.”
“Zoo’s Got Mail” debuts May 3, running daily at 11:30 a.m. (with an additional show on Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.). Beginning June 21, the show will run daily at both 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The Wild Wonders Outdoor Theater show is presented by Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.
