Pierce College is proud to announce the introduction of a new paramedic certificate in our Emergency Medical Services program.
For over 30 years, the Emergency Medical Services program at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom has provided students with the necessary education and training to be successful in the field. From firefighters to EMTs, our students are making a difference in their communities with the education they received at Pierce College.
The one-year paramedic certificate program will prepare current EMTs to provide advanced medical care in a fast paced and rewarding environment. Using state-of-the-art technology, including high fidelity simulators and ambulance simulators, students will receive hands-on training preparing them to provide better, safer patient care and giving them advanced training in this high-demand field.
“It is a wonderful dream to see this program come to Pierce College,” said Fire/EMS program specialist Jennifer Antoine. “We built the EMS program for what we are but also how we want to grow. Due to the support from the college and our wonderful staff, we can expand, and that is a real gift.”
Applications are open now through Aug. 22 for our first cohort beginning January 2025. Prospective paramedic certificate students must have current National Registry of Emergency Technicians or Washington State Department of Health certifications, and have a minimum of 1 year of EMT experience.
