Ticket sales are open for one of Fort Nisqually’s most popular summer events. On Friday, July 19 Family Fun Night takes over the Fort’s main lawn from 6 to 9 p.m. for an evening of laughter, entertainment and sweet treats.
Historical interpreters will lead kids and adults in friendly competition and revelry enjoyed by the Fort’s original residents in 1855. Compete in a sack race or the egg-and-spoon relay for a chance to win prizes. You can also try your hand at stilt walking or enjoy classic games and wooden toys at the Kids Outstation.
Bring a picnic dinner to spread out and enjoy under the Factor’s House trees while listening to a performance by the Fort Nisqually Music Guild and make sure to leave room for a scoop or two of old-fashioned ice cream. The evening’s grand finale begins at 8 p.m. when kids are invited to line up by age group and chase saltwater taffy lofted into the meadow by the Fort’s beloved candy cannon.
Tickets for Family Fun Night begin at $13 for youth and $15 for adults, with discounts available for seniors and military, or buy a family pass for $50 that includes admission for two adults and five youth. Children ages three and under are free. You can find information about the event and purchase tickets online at FortNisqually.org.
