TACOMA, WA — Patty Rivers Mannie is pleased to announce the opening of her boutique tour company, Tacoma History Comes Alive. Tacoma History Comes Alive offers historical tours of Downtown Tacoma, Tacoma’s north end neighborhood and the Town of Ruston. She also provides home history research for those looking to learn more about the home where they reside. “Patricia is a proud Tacoma native who unselfishly shares her love, respect, and appreciation of her hometown history. It is a privilege to acknowledge and support her endeavors”, says Madonna Hanna, Retired Educator, Motivational Speaker, and award-winning sprinter.
Born and raised in the north end of Tacoma, Rivers Mannie attended St. Patrick’s Elementary School and graduated from Wilson High School. She grew her passion for Tacoma’s history after attending a Tour of Homes in 1976, during the American Bicentennial. Since then, she has been a Charter Member of the Tacoma Historical Society and worked in banking and marketing throughout her career.
As a proud 4th generation Tacoma native, Rivers Mannie has researched much of Tacoma’s history. Her great grandfather Eugene Scheele worked as a Blacksmith in Tacoma on the corner of North 30th and White Street as early as 1910. Her grandparents Edward and Alma Wildes owned and operated Eddy’s Café on the Tacoma Tide Flats for over 40 years.

Congratulations on your new venture. Sounds very interesting. As a Tacoma native too, 92 years, I have many memories of working in downtown.
