JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. – About a dozen Joint Base Lewis-McChord Special Olympic athletes, along with more than 600 Soldiers, Airmen and families, will be part of the Washington State Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run as it passes through JBLM June 7.
The 8-mile route through JBLM will start with a ceremony at the Iron Mike statue across from the Lewis Main Exchange at 11 a.m. and continue to Heritage Hill Park on McChord Field with a ceremony at 12:30 p.m.
After the JBLM ceremony, the torch will be passed to state law enforcement agencies, who will carry it to the campus of Pacific Lutheran University for the opening ceremonies. Members of the JBLM community will line portions of the run to cheer on the runners.
