Whether it’s a tour of garden displays in full bloom, a waterfront festival or live music and dance performances, Metro Parks Tacoma has something for everyone this summer. Tacoma’s three major marquee events are back, and vendor applications are open.
First up, the Point Defiance Flower and Garden Festival on June 1-2 at Point Defiance Park. The festival features a wide range of free and ticketed activities including stunning garden tours, make and take workshops, botanical lectures, beer and wine tastings and more. Tickets to paid events can be purchased a la carte and are available now at PtDefianceGardenFest.org.
On July 4, Metro Parks will transform Dune Peninsula and Ruston Way for Summer Blast, the city of Tacoma’s official 4th of July celebration. With space for over 150 vendors, two stages for live music, beer gardens and a family zone with entertainment for the kids, Summer Blast is the South Sound’s largest free community event. The evening wraps up with 20 minutes of fireworks visible along the waterfront between Dune Peninsula and Jack Hyde parks.
At the end of July, Wright Park comes to life with the colorful sights and sounds iconic to MOSAIC: Tacoma’s Arts and Culture Festival. From July 27-28, this free festival is a kaleidoscope of dance, music, art, food and family fun set under the shade of Wright Park’s beautiful trees.
Mark your calendars now to make sure you don’t miss a single opportunity for fun and community in your parks.
