Tacoma Arts Live is thrilled to invite audiences ages 13+ to delight in the creativity and humor of Double Shot Theater Festival, playing April 20-21 at the Tacoma Armory Roosevelt Room (1001 S Yakima Ave, Tacoma, WA 98405). The event will feature five brand new, 10-minute plays – written, directed, and rehearsed in just 24 hours! More than 25 Western Washington artists come together and work around the clock to create these new works centered on a unifying theme.
The festival is the project of Northwest Playwrights Alliance and Tacoma Arts Live. Double Shot is celebrating 20 years of creating new work through dynamic collaboration. “Double Shot has always been about the Tacoma community. We’ve produced a few of these overnight plays in Olympia, Portland, and even Japan, but the heart and soul of our talent base has always been Tacoma,” says Bryan Willis, Lead Curator of the Festival. Prominent artists who have participated in the past include Dan Erickson, creator of Apple TV’s “Severance.”
“We are so excited to partner again with Double Shot Theater Festival, and to present their unique blend of improv, theater, and comedy at our new venue in the Armory,” says David Fischer, CEO of Tacoma Arts Live. “Their fresh style and imaginative approach to theater-making is the perfect fit for our adventurous audience, and on top of all that, it’s a really affordable ticket for a fun date night.”
Playing Saturday April 20 at 7:30pm, and Sunday April 21 at 3:00pm. Tickets are $15 and are on sale now: Call Tacoma Arts Live Box Office at 253.346.1721, go to TacomaArtsLive.org, or visit Tacoma Armory in person during box office hours at 1001 S Yakima Ave at 11th Street in Tacoma.
