The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County is gearing up to provide critical care for over a thousand kittens in the coming months by hosting its annual virtual Kitten Shower. Last year, the shelter cared for over 2,400 homeless kittens and is expecting more this year.
“As spring temperatures rise, so does the number of kittens in need of care at our shelter,” explains Leslie Dalzell, chief executive officer at the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County. “While tons of nursing kittens may seem adorable, caring for them takes a lot of resources and requires round-the-clock attention. We rely on our community’s support to make this lifesaving work possible.”
Throughout April, there are various ways for community members to make a difference, including monetary donations and donated items essential for kitten care. To donate or check out the shelter’s Amazon Kitten Registry, please visit www.thehumanesociety.org/kitten-shower.
To further prepare for an influx of kittens, the shelter is asking for kitten name suggestions. Community members can suggest names for incoming kittens with a donation starting at $10. To participate, visit www.thehumanesociety.org/name-a-kitten.
For more information about ways to get involved and an exclusive look into kitten care at the shelter, visit the shelter’s website at www.thehumanesociety.org/kitten-shower and social media @TacomaHumane all month long.
All funds and supplies raised from the virtual Kitten Shower event will directly contribute to providing essential care, shelter, and love to kittens in need, as well as to the thousands of other pets in need at the shelter each year.
The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County would like to thank Kitten Shower sponsors, Umpqua Bank, Korum for Kids Foundation, and Larson Automotive Group.
