Progress is being made to build the interim Lakewood Pierce County Library.
To date, land use and site development requirements have been approved. In addition, the Library System submitted and is working toward approval for the right of way, sewer and building permit.
A construction schedule is projected to be ready to review at the February Board of Trustees’ meeting. More information is available at this link.

I must not be understanding something. Why do we need to build an interim library…spend all that money and then build a permanent library? Seems like a waste of time and money and I am a library user. What am missing?

The link in the article explains why an interim library is being constructed.
Nancy P. says
I think we can expect to wait at least five years before we have a permanent Lakewood library branch, due to all the planning, permitting and funding issues involved.. I will be glad to see an interim library that I can use without going to one of the other nearby branches.
Greg Horn says
Do we get a break on our taxes since the PC Library System is in such disarray?
Diane says
Adding to Greg’s comment – and a refund for all the taxes we paid for upkeep and maintenance to a building that obviously was not maintained?
