Metro Parks Tacoma and the City of Tacoma have partnered to bring Tacoma’s 4th of July Summer Blast to the waterfront.
The free family-friendly day of live music, food, entertainment, and craft vendors begins at noon and ends with a grand finale fireworks display over beautiful Commencement Bay around 10 p.m.
“Parks are the perfect place to gather as a community, and we’re lucky to be celebrating the 4th of July in two of Metro Parks’ most iconic parks,” said Park Board President Andrea Smith. “Commencement Bay is a backdrop for a day of festivities along our accessible public waterfront, and the grassy slopes at Dune Peninsula are a welcome place for friends and families to gather and enjoy the evening fireworks show.”
Event goers will be able to enjoy the festivities at two locations along the Ruston Way Waterfront: Cummings Park and Dune Peninsula at Point Defiance Park. The fireworks display can be seen from Dune Peninsula Park in the north, along Ruston Way Waterfront, and stretching to Jack Hyde Park in the south.
“I’m excited to see the Tacoma community gather to celebrate the 4th of July along our beautiful waterfront,” said Mayor Victoria Woodards. “This free event highlights some of the best that our city has to offer, from local musicians and craft vendors to culinary artists.”
The fireworks show is presented by Emerald Queen Casino & Hotel, in partnership with Metro Parks Tacoma and the City.
Traffic impacts are anticipated to begin at 7 a.m. and last until midnight. Ruston Way will be closed to vehicle traffic at Alder Way and North 49th Street, while Yacht Club Road leading into Point Ruston will be closed at Grand Loop.
