Since 1931, The Tacoma Golf Association (TGA) has provided a rich history of promoting and supporting competitive amateur golf. Over the years, TGA has played a significant role in developing competitive golfers of all ages fostering a love for the game in our community.
Today, the Tacoma Golf Association is focused on preserving its legacy while also reimagining its future. The organization recognizes the importance of adapting to changing times and demographics to remain relevant and vibrant. To that end, daily operations, and control of the TGA will be shifted to Meadow Park Golf Course. Meadow Park was established in 1915 and was one of the original five golf clubs that participated in the 1931 Tacoma City Championship. Meadow Park Golf Course is community golf facility owned by Metro Parks Tacoma.
One of the keys ways Meadow Park is seeking to preserve the legacy of the Tacoma Golf Association is through a commitment to the Tacoma City Golf Championships. The 4 legacy events are the Tacoma City Golf Championship, the Tacoma Senior City Golf Championship, the Tacoma City Junior Championship, and the Tacoma City Best Ball Championship. The goal is to preserve and enhance these events as premier competitive golf events for years to come.
At the same time, the Tacoma Golf Association will be embracing new ideas and energy to reimagine its future. The organization recognizes the importance of engaging with younger and more diverse golfers to ensure its continued success.
One of the ways that Meadow Park Golf Course will seek to enhance the Tacoma Golf Association will be by partnering with other regional golf associations, local golf courses, and local schools to introduce new golfers into these events. By seeking partnerships, the Tacoma Golf Association will aim to cultivate the next generation of golfers in the Tacoma area.
