Get ready for an unforgettable adventure at the Asia Pacific Cultural Center’s Summer Cultural Youth Camp! From July 17 to July 21, 2023, young explorers aged 5 to 13 are invited to immerse themselves in a vibrant fusion of cultures from Korea, Thailand, Samoa, and Khmer. From 10 am to 2 pm each day, participants will embark on a thrilling journey of discovery, where the rich traditions, fascinating customs, and tantalizing flavors of these diverse Asian Pacific regions come to life.
Envision yourself stepping foot into the enchanting realm of Korea, where you will learn greetings, instrument making, songs, Korean traditional dress, cooking Kimbab, Lantern Painting, and the game of Guno.
Feel the pulsating rhythm of Thailand as you learn greetings, instruments, dancing, clay making, Thai foods and cooking class, and the popular sport of Muay Thai Boxing.
Next, venture to the enchanting islands of Samoa, learn the alphabet, song, dances, storytelling, motifs and designs, hand paint Siapo, make Pale Fuiono (headpieces), Kiki Fulumoa (feathered waistband), family structures, Ula Nifo (tooth necklace), and Samoan food.
Finally, plunge into the mystical culture of Khmer, learn greetings, and culture, play the Thaut Sey game, make lotus flowers, wear traditional costumes, cook a noodle dish and banana dessert, and finally learn the art of fan making and painting.
Lunches will have cultural representations of each of the various countries.
