The South Sound’s not-to-be-missed summer celebration is July 15, when the City of Lakewood hosts its annual SummerFEST.
This free festival is the city’s largest event of the year and offers something fun for everyone.
The party kicks off at 11 a.m. with welcoming remarks by Mayor Jason Whalen. Immediately following House Band of Lakewood takes the SummerFEST Main Stage, playing classic rock favorites and creating the perfect soundtrack for a day of fun.
In total five bands will perform a variety of music from classic rock and country to Americana. Main Stage show times are:
- 11:20 a.m. House Band of Lakewood (classic rock)
- 1:15 p.m. The Olson Bros Band (country)
- 3:30 p.m. The Dusty 45s (Americana)
- 5:45 p.m. The Infinity Project (Journey tribute act)
- 8 p.m. Heart by Heart (Heart tribute act with founding members of Heart)
While enjoying the live music, quench your thirst at the nearby beer garden or stroll rows of food trucks to find your favorite festival food.
Watch as artists from the Tacoma Glass Museum showcase their talent at the mobile hot shop. Enjoy circus acts from the Wenatchee Youth Circus, be amazed by roaming entertainment and visit local vendor booths to find handcrafted items for sale. Don’t forget to stop by The Pavilion to enjoy the International Festival with cultural performances from around the world happening throughout the day.
Grab your Passport to Sports & Art to try something new – visit every booth and earn a prize! Stroll the ‘Cruizin’ Together Car Show’, crawl into a West Pierce Fire & Rescue big rig, or let the kids burn their energy in the Kids Activity Zone.
As the sun sets watch the night sky light up with tethered hot air balloons and a choreographed drone show – a fan favorite from last year – or head over to the Pavilion stage to see the fire dancer show.

Dear friend, Jason. Just remembering back when Summerfest @LPD consisted of 2 or 3 houses and lots of talk about how much this program could grow. It’s sooo great to think of your smile and support to all who know you. ‘Thinking back about the enthusiasm everyone in your PC group @ Mt. Vernon Village showed for Summerfest many years ago. ‘Hoping to see you & yours on Sundays this summer too. Best, Kristy
