City of Tacoma announcement.
City of Tacoma Neighborhood Planning Program is hosting an open house event for the Proctor Neighborhood Plan from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 3 at Wheelock Library (3722 N. 26th Street).
The free, family-friendly event will include crafts, activities, Market Bucks giveaways, free coffee and pastries, information about the Proctor Neighborhood Planning Project, and other community resources.
“Come for the fun and leave with great information,” said Lauren Hoogkamer, Principal Planner and Neighborhood Planning Program manager. “This is an opportunity for people to come out, celebrate their neighborhood and learn more about what neighborhood planning is and how to participate in finding ways to enhance and invest in Proctor.”

The purpose of the program is to provide equitable planning and development services at a grassroots level to help communities create strong, vibrant, and diverse neighborhoods. The program currently includes the McKinley and Proctor neighborhoods. The next round of neighborhoods will be announced later in 2023.
