Tacoma Business Council announcement.
The Tacoma Business Council produced a compelling video for our Summit on Crime that took place last month. The video highlights the real impact that crime is having on Tacoma businesses. We’ve received many requests for the video so are sharing a link to it now. Take a minute to watch now; it’s well worth you time.
Brian Borgelt says
8 arsons in 4 years on properties I own.
Fires throughout the city.
Constant assaults on staff, tenants, and patrons.
Graffiti and vandalism everywhere.
So many break-ins and attempted break-ins, that I have lost count.
Shoplifting and vehicle prowling.
Overt drug use and the resultant public intoxication.
Encampments that look like mini landfills.
Overdose and murder.
Urination and defecation all over the place.
Rape.
And what has the city done?
Not much to address the problems above.
They have found their own way to harass us though by suing us to remove the historic loading dock to our property, which dates to 1918.
Not through eminent domain mind you, but through code enforcement, calling it now a “public nuisance” and encroachment into their right of way.
So now we are paying a lawyer to fight this rogue bureaucracy, which we are all paying for with our tax dollars.
If this is not the very essence of dereliction wrapped in corruption, I don’t know what could be.
I don’t even know who my city council representative is, because it really doesn’t matter at this point.
We were on a pretty good trajectory until something fundamentally changed in the minds of people, a couple decades ago.
There was a shift, and it has continued to deteriorate since, to the point where most of this behavior isn’t even news-worthy.
