Leslie Dalzell is named as the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County’s new chief executive officer effective April 1, 2023.
Dalzell has been serving as interim CEO for the shelter since Oct. 2022. During this time, Dalzell has established relationships in the statewide animal welfare community and has continued to advance the organization.
“Serving as the interim CEO over the last several months has been an honor and privilege. Our team’s dedication and openness to implementing animal welfare best practices have allowed us to achieve so much during this period of impact and growth,” said Dalzell. “Our focus will continue to be centered around the well-being of our staff, volunteers, the pets we serve, and the people who love them. I look forward to sharing our strategic plans for this new era of our shelter with all of you in the coming months.”
Dalzell joined the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County in 2018 as the chief financial officer. As part of the shelter’s executive team, Dalzell led accounting and finance efforts while providing oversight to various departments for the shelter including information technology and facilities.
Dalzell holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Central Michigan University and a Master of Business Administration from Western Michigan University.
Dalzell has broad experience in finance and accounting functions including budgeting, forecasting, auditing, and strategic financial management as well as property management in the private military sector.
