Pierce County Library System announcement.
The Pierce County Library System is inviting children and teens in Pierce County to design the next library card. Students may submit entries in the Library Card Design Contest at any Pierce County Library now through April 30, 2023.
“Pierce County is home to many creative and talented kids and teens and we want to showcase that creativity,” said the Pierce County Library Executive Director Gretchen Caserotti. “The Library Card Design Contest is a great way to put their talent on display and add unique designs to the library cards. It’s also a great way to engage children and teenagers with their local library.”
Artists are limited to one entry per person. Artwork must be portrait or landscape orientation and up to 7 inches x 11 inches in size. Professional artists will review entries and select finalists. Then, in the coming months, the public will vote online for their favorite designs in two age groups ages (5-11 and 12-18).
In the fall, the Library System will convert the designs into 10,000 library cards for each selected drawing, and people throughout Pierce County may choose the library card as their card for use in checking out books, movies and other materials from the 19 Pierce County Libraries.
