City of Fircrest announcement.
The City of Fircrest is aware and closely monitoring the encampment near Lowe’s on Orchard Street. We share Orchard Street with the City of Tacoma. The Anchor Church property and Lowe’s happen to be in Tacoma, therefore, not in our jurisdiction. Fircrest only owns the parcel where the water tower is built. Our Police Officers and Public Works crew monitor our parcel to ensure that our fence is intact, and no trespassing has occurred.
We have contacted Tacoma and they have received many concerns from neighbors and other community members.

Run them, and all of the other camps, out of town. Most of the people that live in them are total drugies, and of no use to any of us. I do feel sorry for the mentally ill and think that they should be helped. Tacoma used to be a nice place to live. Now it’s a pig stye, all thanks to our mayor. Thanks so much for ruining Tacoma for all of us quality, hard working people.

Agreed! Stop allowing this and protect tax paying citizens and our children again

I don’t know where Linda has lived in Tacoma but this ain’t new. You’re just seeing it now. As far as tax paying, why are you still paying taxes? The government you voted for is blatantly telling you they don’t like you.

How about the veterans that are living on the streets. 3 out of 5 veterans that deployed will spend an average of 2 to 5 years homeless. Where is the concern for them, for us! You people are so one sided you fail to see the broader scope of the problem. To you we are all just drug addicts, you don’t care to see those of us dealing with PTSD, nightmares, coming home only to be served divorce papers, losing custody of our children and more. We fought for this country, were I’d the concern for us?
Angie says
Would be nice to see that chunk of land turned into a nature preserve or some sort of educational program like snake lake.
The trails back there are nice and there are animals that depend on the swamp.
Open the space to the public, clean it up, make it kid friendly and the homeless will vacate.
+ If it’s a park, noone with warrants, prior sex crimes, or DV’s will be there cuz police will be able to ID anyone found camping and then make arrest.
