Street improvements continue in Lakewood. Right now, major work is being done on Washington Street. This work necessitates traffic being rerouted through a detour on 112th Street. Now that all this traffic is on 112th, someone decided it would be a good idea to do some road work there. Yes, you read that right. Road repairs are being done on the designated detour. It seems that someone at City Hall ought to schedule work to avoid such conflicts.

While millions were spent on roundabouts and sidewalks to nowhere the roads themselves, like 112th Street are falling apart. This is what your car registration fee of $20.00 euphemistically called Transportation Benefit District (TBD) is going to fund. Originally the TBD was intended to fund several road repairs and maintenance projects around the city center. That being done it has now morphed into a permanent slush fund for any transportation project the City can dream up…………..while the roads themselves decay.

Don’t be surprised when a City of Lakewood employee down there at City Hall twists your right to question the lack of any normalcy for Project Management by the City of Lakewood.
Found out how out of touch Lakewood City Hall truly manages logical reasoning when this type of mismanagement of road projects is affecting the daily
Chaos creating unwarranted traffic issues in my neighborhood.

Seems to me the City of Lakewood is doing a pretty good job of marshaling available funds to upgrade urban infrastructure structure with an eye toward long-term public benefit. My hat’s off to the dedication of competent city staff and thoughtful attention from city council and advisory citizens willing to participate in progress.

After enduring a road and sidewalk project in our neighborhood of Lake City, I have to say the quality of the neighborhood is greatly improved in terms of safety and walkability.
While the work scheduling may not be perfect, the outcome will be an improvement.
