City of Lakewood social media post.
ROAD CLOSURE: Washington BLVD between Edgewood and Vernon avenues will close Monday, Aug. 1. The closure is in place until work is finished installing the stormwater infiltration system. A detour will be in place. Please stay out of the construction area for your safety.

For the 1st week I would recommend extensive Traffic Police patrols on 112th Street, especially during Rush Hour times, as well as the Lunch period.
That is a very-long, straight stretch that will tempt n’er-do-well drivers (which Lakewood has plenty of) to push well past the posted speed of 35mph. And it would also be a good idea to put Speed Tubes at multiple points in that stretch so as to guage accurately what may/likely be going on for the entire construction period.
Another area likely needing Police attention is Military Road and all connecting streets that are South of the Military Rd & 112th St intersection. A lot of people in that area will have to use Military Rd to get to the Detour path, or Holden Rd….a likely “shortcut” to 112th. Holden Rd is 25mph and has Claudia Thomas Middle School about half-way down that stretch.
Therefore a concerted Police presence for at least the 1st week should help put the word out that the detour (and neighboring streets) are NOT a Race Track.

The description doesn’t match the graphic. It should be described as Washington closed from Vernon to N Gate (not Edgewater)

They should make multiple lanes instead of removing lanes and
Reducing to one single in either direction.
The only thing they are doing is wasting more time, money, and creating
Mass congestion, road rage and traffic jams.
They should have express lanes instead of such large sidewalks.
Throw in the school busses, just a big knot of frustration.

I completely agree. I live on 112th and I see cars zooming past at all hours of the day. The unfortunate part is that is construction, busses, and city vehicle are also going well over the 35 mph post limit. A police presence may deter this or at least slow people down. We are not a raceway.

Whoops!!! I misread the description. I see it said EdgeWOOD, not EdgeWATER.
