Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department press release.
We continue to see evidence this wave has peaked. The 14-day case rates on the state dashboard may increase because of the state’s reporting delays. But our recent data shows the beginning of a decline.
Still, our cases are among the highest we’ve ever seen. And we’re reporting 46 deaths this week. We expect hospitalizations and deaths will continue to increase in the weeks ahead because they usually lag case counts.
This week, the state DOH started updating its COVID-19 dashboards Monday, Wednesday and Friday instead of Monday-Friday. You can find the state dashboard and Pierce County case information on our data page.
On Jan. 25, our current 14-day case rate per 100,000 is 3,494.9 for Dec. 29-Jan. 11, which is:

The 14-day case rate offers the most reliable look at COVID-19 disease burden on Pierce County.
