On Dec. 7, Tacoma Animal Control brought two kittens with cut-off limbs to the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County.
The kittens, now named Foxtrot and Echo, are both missing their back-left paw, and one is missing a part of its tail. They weighed less than a pound and were in horrific pain.
The shelter veterinary team immediately started them on medication to fight infection and cleaned and wrapped their wounds.
Foxtrot and Echo have been in a foster home for several weeks to gain weight for surgery. Now, they are in desperate need of amputations for their cut legs. This will allow them to walk normally without pain or infection.
The cost of these surgeries is high, and the shelter has been inundated with serious medical cases in the last year.
Donations from the community are urgently needed to help these wounded kittens get the surgery they need. Donations are being accepted on the shelter’s website at: https://www.thehumanesociety.org/kitten-surgery/
