Making a Difference Foundation announcement.
The Making A Difference Foundation (MADF) and it’s Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank announces a partnership with Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland and Door Dash for the Thanksgiving meal giveaway. The full meal boxes, including turkeys, are being delivered to 600 veteran and military families, and another 1,000 boxes are being delivered to other vulnerable families in Pierce County on November 22 and 23. Door Dash will be generously making the deliveries for free.
Congresswoman Strickland will be arriving at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 22, at the food bank, located at 3543 E McKinley Ave., Tacoma. She will spend fifteen minutes greeting other volunteers and the food bank staff. The press is welcome and invited to attend to ask questions, speak with the Congresswoman, and take photos. Afterwards, Congresswoman Strickland will make two Thanksgiving meal box deliveries through Door Dash to local families.
Congresswoman Strickland serves Washington’s 10th Congressional District, which covers Pierce County, Thurston County, and parts of Mason County. She is the first African-American to represent Washington State at the federal level, and one of the first Korean-American women elected to Congress in its 230-year history. She is also formerly the Mayor of Tacoma. Congresswoman Strickland is “a strong voice for change so that our most vulnerable community members are served as we re-build an economy that works for all of us.”
Just like with this partnership, Eloise’s Cooking Pot continues to serve Tacoma and other Pierce County communities with the generous support of community donors and volunteers. Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank supplies the area’s most vulnerable individuals and families with needed food and other items five days a week Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM both at the on-site location and with home delivery service. The Thanksgiving meal giveaway is available by sign up on a first-come, first-serve basis. Visit MADF’s website at www.themadf.org/thanksgivingturkey-giveaway-program-2021/. The MADF and its President and Founder, Ahndrea Blue, continue to focus on the mission to make a difference in the lives of others, one person at a time, by helping them acquire the most basic human needs: food, housing, encouragement, and opportunity. As stated by Ms. Blue, “We am grateful for this opportunity to serve our veterans, military personnel, and the community while working alongside Congresswoman Strickland and Door Dash. We hope this highlights not only the hunger issues that need to be addressed in Pierce County, but also helps inspire other community leaders and companies to get involved and help solve some of these critical, core issues faced by so many in our area.”
