On Sept. 23, our 14-day case rate per 100,000 for Sept. 1-14 is 563.7. The 14-day case rate offers the most reliable look at COVID-19 disease burden on Pierce County.
Our hospitalization rate is currently 13.9 per 100,000.
Today, we confirmed 601 COVID-19 cases and 2 new deaths:
- A woman in her 70s from Graham.
- A woman in her 70s from Tacoma.
Our totals are 79,294 cases (PCR = 70,515, antigen = 8,779) and 754 deaths.
About 25% of today’s 601 cases came from a lab backlog. They go back about a month. We expect to report more backlogged cases tomorrow.
