A press release from Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.
On Sept. 21, our 14-day case rate per 100,000 for Aug. 30-Sept. 12 is 611.1. The 14-day case rate offers the most reliable look at COVID-19 disease burden on Pierce County.
Our hospitalization rate is currently 15.5 per 100,000.
Today, we confirmed 388 COVID-19 cases and 3 new deaths:
- A man in his 70s from Puyallup.
- A man in his 40s from Lake Tapps/Sumner Area.
- A woman in her 90s from Bonney Lake.
Our totals are 78,463 cases (PCR = 69,815, antigen = 8,648) and 751 deaths.
Starting tomorrow, the state will temporarily pause updates of positive percentage rate of COVID-19 tests. The state’s focus on processing positive tests led to a backlog of negative tests and the potential for inaccuracies in percentage positive rate. Because we use state data, we can’t update our testing dashboard. Updates should resume on Oct. 31.
