Tacoma Little Theatre begins its 103rd Season, “The Start of Something New”, with Terms of Endearment, adapted by Dan Gordon and based on the book by Pulitzer Prize-winner Larry McMurtry and James L. Brooks’s screenplay of the Oscar-winning film. Terms of Endearment is directed by Blake R. York (The Pillowman). Terms of Endearment won Oscars for the 1983 production. A 2021/2022 production is currently in development.
I always like watching Scott C. Brown. We’ve seen him in numerous stage productions all around the South Sound: Renton, Enumclaw, Olympia, and Tacoma. We featured Scott in a number of our industrial video productions.
“Aurora and Emma are mother and daughter who march to different drummers. Beginning with Emma’s marriage, Aurora shows how difficult and loving she can be. The movie covers several years of their lives as each finds different reasons to go on living and find joy. Aurora’s interludes with Garrett Breedlove, retired astronaut and next door neighbor are quite striking. In the end, different people show their love in very different ways.” —John Vogel
My favorite Quotations from the film:
“Gorgeous isn’t everything.”
“I was just inches from a clean getaway.”
