A press release from Washington State DOT.
TACOMA – Finishing three days ahead of schedule, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will reopen the Port of Tacoma on-ramp to southbound Interstate 5 by 6 a.m., Friday, Sept. 3.
Guy F. Atkinson Construction closed the ramp on Monday, Aug. 23 so crews could build the final ramp alignment. WSDOT would like to thank drivers for their patience during this closure.
In the coming weeks, crews will shift travel lanes on southbound I-5 one more time to begin building the East L Street bridge and finish center median barrier.
More information about the upcoming traffic switch and the overall project is available on a recent WSDOT blog post. This work is part of the project that builds a new southbound I-5 Puyallup River Bridge in Tacoma.
Before heading out the door, travelers can find the latest information on the WSDOT app and by following the WSDOT regional Twitter feed.
