A press release from City of Tacoma.
The Tacoma Area Commission on Disabilities (TACOD) and the City of Tacoma’s Public Works Department are postponing a ribbon-cutting event that was to be held on Thursday, September 2, at the South Bell and South 64th Street intersection. The postponement is consistent with the City’s return to a remote format for public meetings in response to an increase in COVID cases across Pierce County. The event will be rescheduled for spring 2022.
Recently the City’s Public Works Department completed upgrades at the intersection of South 64th Street and Pacific Avenue, extending eastward into the intersection of East McKinley Avenue and East 64th Street. The improvements provide wheelchair-accessible lanes, adjacent bike lanes, and accessible crosswalks with audio signals to enable better navigation in this East Tacoma community.
