Puyallup, WA – The City of Puyallup is excited to announce the launch of its official Nextdoor account. Nextdoor is a popular social media platform that connects neighborhoods through online conversations, events, and discussions. Residents of Puyallup, who are members of Nextdoor, can now follow the City for latest updates on projects, events, meetings, and other important topics.
Launched in August 2021, the City invites residents to follow our page by going to www.Nextdoor.com. City Manager Steve Kirkelie comments on the launch of the page.
“The way we communicate with citizens is always changing,” says Kirkelie. “As a government entity, we need to embrace new ways of telling our story and connect with all corners of our community. This account, along with our other social media accounts, is a great example of how we are looking at ways to increase community engagement and communication.”
Nextdoor is a free online social platform, where residents can sign up to learn about what’s going on in their neighborhood. The site was launched in 2010, and has active neighborhoods across the country, including Puyallup.
The City launched the Nextdoor account as part of its effort to increase communication City-wide. With over 8,000 active residents on Nextdoor, having a presence on the social media channel allows the City to engage with them, answer questions, and provide quality customer service. This platform also allows an additional opportunity to ensure the dissemination of accurate information to residents.
