A press release from City of Lakewood.
Seattle and Tacoma are expecting an influx of Afghan refugees following the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan.
Donations of dishes, towels, bedding, and other household essentials may be delivered to Lakewood City Hall next week. From Monday, Aug. 23 through Friday, Aug. 27 during business hours (8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.), donations may be deposited into a drop box inside City Hall.
From the parking lot on the South side of City Hall, signage to your left (West) will instruct visitors where to leave donations.
Q13 FOX is sponsoring the donation drive to collect welcome kits that will be distributed to refugee families through World Relief Seattle. The kits include everyday items such as towels, bedding, shampoo, dishes, and silverware.

Do these items need to be new or can they be used?

Regardless of what you thought about the war in Afghanistan, these people supported our troops. They also put their lives on the line, not to mention the lives of their family members.

Dear Beth
I wish someone would have answered your question. My wife and brought over some very well cared for bedding and a set of dishes identical to our everyday dishes, except for the color. Everything was refused because all were used. Very disappointing.
Rosemarie Cicero says
Same here. There was no attendant so I left mine there and they can donate it to Goodwill. It should have been noted in the ad for donations that all must be new.
