A press release from City of Tacoma.
TACOMA, Wash. – The Tacoma Arts Commission is now accepting applications from Tacoma-based artists who are interested in sharing, demonstrating, and/or selling their work at Arts at the Armory. This new event, developed in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Tacoma Arts Month, will feature Tacoma artists sharing their work and creative practices with the community. Applications must be submitted online by 11:59 PM on August 22, 2021.
Arts at the Armory will be held Saturday and Sunday, October 16 and 17, 11 AM – 5 PM, inside the spacious Tacoma Armory (1001 S. Yakima Ave.). Artists can choose to participate on Saturday, Sunday, or both days. This event is free and family-friendly. Event staff and volunteers will be on-site to ensure this event abides by all current Washington state, Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, and venue health and safety protocols.
Tacoma artists, working in all artistic disciplines and mediums, are invited to apply for this unique interactive arts experience. Artistic disciplines and mediums include, but are not limited to: music, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, jewelry, literary, video, design, digital, and dance. While not required, artists can have work for sale; no commission will be taken on any sales and artists will handle any sale of their work directly. There is no fee to apply or participate in Arts at the Armory.
Eligibility extends to artists who are residents of Tacoma or have their regular working studio or space in Tacoma. Artists must create, perform, or hand make their own work; commercially acquired or appropriated work is not allowed.
People who are members of historically disenfranchised racial, ethnic, cultural, and other identity groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
