A press release from Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.
On August 3, our 14-day case rate per 100,000 for July 12- July 25 is 176.5. The 14-day case rate offers the most reliable look at COVID-19 disease burden on Pierce County.
Our hospitalization rate is currently 4 per 100,000. Today we confirmed 533 COVID-19 cases and 1 new death, a woman in her 70s from South Pierce County.
The high case count today is from a data processing backlog in the state case reporting system. The state has cleared the backlog. Most cases from today’s case count are from the last two weeks.
Today we updated the population estimates for Pierce County for 2021. This will change our percentages for COVID-19 demographics and vaccine data as well as census tracts on the vaccine map. We update the population data annually.
Our totals are 53,982 cases and 636 deaths.
