A press release from City of Lakewood.
LAKEWOOD, Wash. – On Monday, July 19, the City of Lakewood was presented with a check by the Lakewood First Lions Club for $3,000 to support youth recreational programming in Lakewood.
Lions President Dave O’Keeffe and Vice President Ruth Anne Hickey presented the check to City of Lakewood Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Director Mary Dodsworth.
“There are many youth in our community with limited access to safe, structured activities,” said Mary Dodsworth, Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Director. :This donation will help us reach more kids throughout Lakewood with our programs. Our Mobile Park Program, for example, brings games and activities to Springbrook Park and Harry Todd Park.”
The Lakewood First Lions Club has additional community service plans this year. The club will conduct hearing screenings at local schools, sponsor recreational events for local youth, and will support Camp Leo Diabetes Camp.
“This community is lucky to have service clubs that are forces of positive change,” said John Caulfield, City Manager. “We thank the Lakewood First Lions Club for their generosity and commitment to the betterment of Lakewood.”
