I’m writing to express my frustration with State Senator Steve O’Ban. Last Saturday, a car of unmasked representatives from O’Ban’s re-election campaign visited my neighborhood to knock on doors. Given that we’re in the midst of a global pandemic where unnecessary person-to-person contact is discouraged and face mask usage is recommended, I was uneasy when a volunteer approached me in my yard.
As someone who lives with two high-risk individuals and whose work has been affected by COVID-19, I’m doing all I can to adhere to the public health guidelines. I care about the health of my family and neighbors, and know that my actions will help curb the spread and allow us to get back to “normal.”
It’s my hope that my senator would also respect these boundaries by choosing to adapt his campaign to this new reality. Less in-person contact, please Mr. Senator. And if you must come knocking, please wear a mask.
