Lisa has worked at Park Lodge since the current building opened in 1997.
Inspired by working at a YMCA program for kids with disabilities, Lisa began her teaching career in special education. She eventually transitioned into the general education classroom, teaching kindergarten until she moved up to first grade three years ago.
“First graders are so eager to learn,” she said. “They know a little bit more about being in school than kindergartners do, but they still have that innocence. They are still so excited to be in school.”
Growing up, her family moved up and down the west coast. She settled in Washington after earning her bachelor’s degree from Central Washington University.
Lisa said her favorite part of the school year is parent teacher conference week. “It’s nice to be able to share a student’s progress with their family and let them know all of the things they’ve learned so far,” she said.Print This Post
