Keith Smiley is currently in his fifth year as head custodian at the school.
Keith came to Washington from Arkansas in 1995 to live with his brother, who was stationed at Fort Lewis. “I needed a change of scenery, someplace new,” he said. “Coming out here literally changed my life for the better.”
He started working in Clover Park School District in 2001 and spent 12 years0 as a custodian at Woodbrook Middle School. He loves working with kids and is always delighted to see their smiling faces as they enter the building every morning.
“Keith is always willing to do what is best for kids,” said Dower Principal Megan Qualls. “Students look at working with him as one of their greatest experiences in school and he is always willing to hold them accountable while being fair and firm.”
He raved about the staff he gets to work with every day at Dower. “It’s like a family here,” he said. “When something happens in one person’s life it affects all of us.”Print This Post
