While serving in the Army, Jack was stationed at Fort Lewis and enjoyed the weather, which was a stark departure from the hot and humid places he’d lived before. Originally from North Carolina, Jack returned to Washington after his time in the Army and settled down.
He began working in the district as a substitute custodian in 1993. When he was hired in a permanent position at Hudtloff two years later, he quickly realized he’d found a new home. “I have two houses I’m responsible for keeping clean and organized,” he said.
Jack said his favorite thing about working at Hudtloff is that he’s had the opportunity to interact with students in different ways throughout the years. He has coached football, basketball and unified soccer and he has run the school talent show for the last 15 years.
“I’m part of the Hudtloff family,” he said. “Principal Adams does a great job of making sure that’s the case and that I am viewed by others as a productive member of the school.”
