TACOMA – Contractor crews building HOV lanes on Interstate 5 and State Route 16 in Tacoma have several overnight ramp and lane closures scheduled for the last week of February. The closures allow crews to install overhead signs and to pour a new bridge deck.
Overnight drivers should also be prepared for multiple lane closures on I-5 from 54th Avenue East in Fife to South 48th Street in Tacoma, and on eastbound State Route 16 near South Sprague Avenue.
Overnight closures
Monday, Feb. 25
- Northbound I-5 exit 134 to Portland Avenue will close from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Tuesday.
- Southbound I-5 exit 132A to South 38th Street will close from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday. Drivers on southbound I-5 will detour to the South 56th Street interchange, back to northbound I-5, and proceed to exit 132.
Tuesday, Feb. 26
- Northbound I-5 exit 134 to Portland Avenue will close from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Wednesday.
- Southbound I-5 exit 132A to South 38th Street will close from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday. Drivers on southbound I-5 will detour to the South 56th Street interchange, back to northbound I-5, and proceed to exit 132.
- Eastbound SR 16 ramp to northbound I-5 will close from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Wednesday.
Wednesday, Feb. 27
- Northbound I-5 exit 134 to Portland Avenue will close from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Thursday.
- Eastbound SR 16 ramp to southbound I-5 will close from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Thursday.
- Northbound I-5 exit 132 will close from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Thursday.
Thursday, Feb. 28
- Northbound I-5 exit 134 to Portland Avenue will close from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Friday.
- Eastbound SR 16 ramp to southbound I-5 will close from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Friday.
- Northbound I-5 exit 132 will close from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Friday.
Friday, March 1
- Southbound I-5 exit 132A to South 38th Street will close from 11:59 p.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday. Drivers on southbound I-5 will detour to the South 56th Street interchange, back to northbound I-5, and proceed to exit 132.
